187: Coming Back From Your First DQ with Dillen Easley

After shooting for six years you come up with your first DQ in a major match while you’re in the middle of the performance of a lifetime. How do you deal with that impact to your mental game and to your future performance? This exact situation just happened to Dillen Easley and we got together after the Gadsden Shotgun Championship in Missouri to do a post mortem on the event.

We also get into planning a comeback from your first DQ and how to reframe the event to ensure future performance. Along the way we get into technical breakdown of stages, how to train to be ready for the shooting season when the temperature drops, and working your stage plans toward your strengths. Plus, the ever present conversation of mental game.

i have had 4 dq’s in 30 years. 2 my fault and 2 mechanical. if you know why you are ok. if you do not know why,,,,,,,it should scare the hell out of you. the mechanical bothered the hell out of me till i figured out why.

That is definitely a tough one. I have had some mechanical failures on guns outside of matches and it really shook me up. Thankfully they were all downrange, safest possible situation but still gets to ya!
